One last push to get it over the line?
Or will it prove to be too expensive for us in the end? That’s the question that we need to be asking ourselves when it comes to bringing in a new central defender.
With Jack O’Connell seemingly out for the rest of the season, and the Blades still without a clean sheet all campaign, this deadline day will be focused on getting someone in to solidify that backline.
And now we know just how much it’s likely going to cost, as journalist Alan Nixon revealed what Preston North End are going to be charging us in order to bring in defender Ben Davies:
SHEFF U. Told by Preston it would take 10m for Ben Davies. Same number of Bournemouth come back. Bournemouth also continue to check on Osayi-Samuel at QPR just in case need another winger.

Will we bring in a new centre-back before the window closes?
This is a move that is more than likely looking towards the future as well, potentially when and if Phil Jagielka hangs up his boots at the end of the season when his contract expires, otherwise you’d think to add to the depth left behind by O’Connell, you’d just bring in someone on loan for the season.
What about you? Do you think that we should be bringing in someone like Davies on a permanent deal? Or would you rather we just did a loan deal for now?
