The Blades were handed a significant injury boost on Tuesday as three senior players were named in the Sheffield United development team that faced Hull City in a 1-1 draw.

Billy Sharp, Jayden Bogle and Adam Davies all stepped up in their recovery process as they attempt to gain match fitness, ready for after this current international break.

Both outfield players, Sharp and Bogle, were withdrawn at the half-time interval after racking up 45 minutes of game time under their belts.

Club captain, Billy Sharp, is the furthest ahead in terms of fitness compared to Bogle, so there is a high chance of him being available and being named on the bench for Saturday’s home game against Birmingham City.

United’s legendary striker will act as a different option for Paul Heckingbottom’s side, and an option which they’ve lacked so far this season. With the return of Sharp, it provides the Blades with an experienced striker as an option from the bench.

However, the nearing return to senior action of Jayden Bogle and Adam Davies will give United a sense of relief, as they are extremely short in the goalkeeper and right-wingback positions.

Sheffield United’s development side earned a late point on Tuesday afternoon as the inform striker Louie Marsh scored in the 89th minute of the game. This point nudges United onto 16pts, leaving a 6pt gap to 2nd place Burnley.
