Getting an advantage over the other teams.

That seems to be the mantra that is flying around Bramall Lane at the moment, as the Blades get themselves into a routine ahead of a potential return to football.

According to Henry Winter of The Times, the first-team are back in training today with each player going through a strict routine to get themselves back into shape and working on their ball skills whilst at the same time maintaining social distancing.

And that desire to get things up and running is something that is being driven by the players at the club. Speaking to The Sheffield Star, Blades defender said that the desire to start things off again is coming from those in the first-team:

“The Premier League will have advice from specialists and experts and I trust them and the club to come up with a way of doing it that is safe. Speaking to the lads, the general consensus is that they want to finish the league. We’re hungry to get out there again.”

This goes back to what I have been saying for some time.

Is some form of PPG a fair way to decide the end to the season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

If the players in the Premier League as a whole, or even as a majority want to come back, then I think that the league will inevitably come back, rather than having to resort to any sort of curtailment and then starting a fight regarding how the league positions should be decided.

And hopefully Sheffield United can be seen as, not so much the catalysts, but the trailblazers in getting football back up and running, that way we won’t have to deal with anything like ‘Points Per Game’ or ‘rollbacks’, and we can decide the season in the fairest way possible, and that’s by playing it out to its completion.

What about you? Do you like the way Sheffield United have been dealing with the whole situation? Or would you rather it be done a little differently?
