How will the Blades line up?

Who will be the 11 trusted with carrying the hopes of thousands of Blades into a half full Hillsborough?

I don’t think that this will be the team that Robson will select but I’d like to see us line up in a 4-4-2 with the following players in the side:

GK Paddy Kenny No brainer. Not Paddy, selecting Paddy.

RB Geary He’s a top quality player who is made for this sort of game. His pace will be handy if Wednesday play any quick wide men.

LB Armstrong Really hope he plays and not Naysmith. Knows all about winning at Hillsborough and his extra attacking ability and pace could be crucial.

CB Bromby Been very good in recent weeks and will be eager to impress at Hillsborough.

CB Kilgallon Like Bromby, he’s played well in recent weeks. I’d stick with this pairing rather than bring Ehiogu in for his debut.

RW Gillespie He hasn’t been great this season but he’d be another experienced, calm (unless they’ve signed Stephen Hunt) head. He’d help us keep possession when it’s getting frantic.

CM Speed To calm things down, protect the back 4 and win headers in midfield when Wednesday start hoofing it about.

CM Montgomery Vital to play lionheart Monty in a game like this. Even the deep Hillsborough mud won’t sap this lad’s strength. Will get up and down the pitch all day.

LW Tonge Tempted to put Lee Martin here to use his pace against the lumbering Bullen but Tonge has to play for me. He’ll be better out wide where there might still be the odd blade of grass and he’s been with us long enough to guarantee he’ll be 100% up for this one.

CF Hulse Another who has to play. Mobile, strong, good in the air, decent pace and you know a goal is just around the corner for him. Wednesday won’t be able to cope with him.

CF Stead I know Billy will score but we’ll let him have his goal from off the bench. Stead offers so much more and Wednesday have no hope of dealing with him and Hulse in tandem.
