Despite still not knowing what the future holds for Sheffield United defender Danny Higginbotham, he is already planning ahead and looking forward to pre-season.

Higginbotham is out of contract at the end of this month after coming to the end of his short-term deal and with the club still to appoint a new manager, the 34-year-old doesn`t know if he will be remaining at Bramall Lane.

The experienced defender arrived at Bramall Lane in January following his release from Premier League side Stoke City and he went on to make 18-appearances for United, including the disappointment of losing out in the play-offs to Yeovil Town.

Higginbotham says he is determined to work hard in pre-season and help United bounce back from their play-off disappointment.

“I`m looking forward to pre-season. Even though it`s always hard work,” Higginbotham told Talksport.

“Sheffield United is a massive club and after a huge disappointment at the end of the campaign we`re determined to bounce back.”,/em>

United players are expected to report for pre-season training at the end of this month ahead of the new League One season starting on August 3rd.

Higginbotham is one of a number of players out of contract at the end of this month.

Midfielder Barry Robson has already left to join Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen and striker Dave Kitson is expected to leave Bramall Lane for the MLS League in America.

Lecsinel Jean-Francois and Danny Coyne are also out of contract at Bramall Lane.
