Sheffield United have a fair few players currently unavailable for selection for the season opener against Watford. Out of all the injured players, Billy Sharp is the closest one to be included in the Blades first matchday squad of the 22/23 season.

One of the injured players is the young talented midfielder, Tommy Doyle. Doyle was signed earlier this month, whilst the Blades were on their pre-season tour in Portugal. Unfortunately Doyle strained his thigh during training and hasn’t yet kicked a ball for United.

Paul Heckingbottom told Yorkshire Live:

“Tommy was back on the grass on Saturday. Started doing some running and it’s about how he reacts now, so that’s pleasing. It’s a thigh injury, but it’s his non-kicking leg, so I am not too concerned. It’s just a case of getting him back and getting him involved in training.”

Jayden Bogle has been recovering from his knee injury for a few months now. He isn’t close to returning yet, but Paul Heckingbottom has provided a positive update on the wingbacks recovery:

“Everyone’s pleased with him. There will be no rush, just because of how tough the injury can be.

“He’s turned the corner in terms of reacting to things and everyone’s pleased with him. He’s got back up there with his strength, so we’ll start progressing things a little bit more.” [Yorkshire Live

Adam Davies will miss the start of the season after suffering medial ligament damage in the pre-season game, where he came off early, against Lincoln City.

The Blades boss said:

“Davo is in his brace and we are talking weeks, so we will be led by how he reacts.” [Yorkshire Live]

Meanwhile there is no fresh update on the recovery of Jack O’Connell.
