The 22/23 Championship campaign kicks off this weekend with the Blades facing Watford at Vicarage Road next Monday night.

The new manager Rob Edwards has been experimenting with the side in pre-season games, and that’s seen Watford have some poor results in their friendly games.

United have had some poor results in their games too. Paul Heckingbottom had a clear emphasis on fitness in the first bunch of friendlies, with the final 2 games being more of a competitive game-type preparation.

With just 6 days left now to prepare for United’s season opener, Heckingbottom told Yorkshire Live that this week will be “a different feel” in terms of training and preparation compared to previous weeks.

“We’ll be in Monday and have a training game on Tuesday. Everything starts from Monday in terms of video and preparing things like that. There will be a different feel to this week now.

“We have done the hard physical stuff, culminating this weekend with everyone playing. They will get the benefit of that as the season goes on and it will be a case of topping people up in the season. Now it’s all focus on Watford.”
