Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom stated earlier this summer that he wanted five or six positions to be filled this transfer window. A few weeks on and United have signed four players, with Reda Khadra on the verge of signing from Brighton.

The latest reports confirm that United want another player alongside Reda Khadra. This player is currently unknown to the public. If United can get the Khadra deal over the line as well as bringing in this other target, then Paul Heckingbottom will have gotten his wish.

United have done a lot of good business so far this summer, including bringing in Anel Ahmedhodzic for £3M with potential to rise to £5.15M. Heckingbottom has also welcomed two Premier League loanees to his squad this summer with Ciaran Clark and Tommy Doyle. The Blades also successfully extended the stay of Adam Davies.

Heckingbottom has insisted that the club do now have “to be careful” with the remaining budget at the club.

“Every time we have had a board meeting and conversations it’s always been about the positions we spoke about in January, that’s not changed.

“In terms of the finances the board has been clear, so I know what we have got to play with. There will be no more finances as such. We’ve come out of the Premier League, the budget changed and the budget changed again this season, so we won’t be throwing money at it. We have got to be careful with it.

“We will be keeping something back, we want the best possible players, that’s it, simple as. There’s no need to be getting someone in for the sake of it, we want to make sure we can see him getting in the team.” [Via Yorkshire Live]
