Always looking towards the future, and making sure that it’s not too far away.
That was the message that one Sheffield United youngster wanted to get across during a recent interview.
Having first signed for the club in 2018, Leo Gaxha has slowly but surely been making a name for himself in the team’s academy side with some impressive displays.
Speaking during a recent interview with Radio Kerry’s Terrace Talk, Gaxha spoke about his experience when it came to signing for Sheffield United and precisely why he decided to join the Blades despite the fact he had offers from elsewhere.
“When they offered [the professional contract] to me, I said yes straight away because it’s a club I believe I can develop at and can play in the first team next season.”
Should the club be utilising more of our young players next season?
Yes
No
The quotes were unearthed by Twitter account @The_Bladesmen and shared on social media, and it was interesting to read some of the responses from Blades fans about the 18-year-old, with some fans pointing out that based on his work so far, it sounds like he has a good future ahead of him at Bramall Lane.
Nothing better than a youngster with confidence alongside ability. Wilder will give him the chance if he’s good enough. Look forward to seeing the kid https://t.co/vMjh7RgUeJ

And although he is yet to make a first-team appearance, who knows, with things the way they are, maybe he’ll be one of the players that is presented with an opportunity towards the end of the season.
Plenty of time for this lad to make the step up to the first team but with a place in Europe at stake not just now.
