Sheffield United have failed in their bid to bring a casino to Bramall Lane it has been revealed today.
The Blades had hoped to add a casino to the development around the ground that will see a four-star hotel being built.
Jason Rockett, the chief executive of Sheffield United plc told the official site, ‘I am naturally disappointed that Sheffield has not been given the opportunity to house the first regional casino.’
However, he went on to add ‘We will continue to expand Sheffield United’s off pitch business interests as planned.’
I can’t say I’m devastated at the news. It seems like a hell of a risk for a football club to take, and would have been a distraction from the only thing that matters, what happens on the pitch.
