Having taken victory over Nottingham Forest on Easter Friday and then having seen Leeds United slip up, Sheffield United were looking to keep the pressure on and maintain our slight and narrow advantage at the top of the Championship table as we made the trip to the KCOM Stadium today to face Hull City.

Three points would open a temporary three point gap over Leeds with them having the evening kickoff today, and promotion to the Premier League via the automatic spots is back in our hands.

A brace from David McGoldrick in the opening 22 minutes of the game gave us the clear advantage and Enda Stevens made it 3-0 just before the half time break to leave automatic promotion squarely in our hands as we tick into the final fixtures now.

Speaking to the BBC following the final whistle being blown, manager Chris Wilder said of our efforts on the day.

“It’s a great win for us, I’m absolutely delighted. Our ex-manager (Adkins) was never going to make it easy for us. We just keep rolling on. We needed a big weekend of football and Friday really set us up. We have to go and get the next win and we’ll go after it on Saturday.”

At the time of publishing Leeds are losing in the late kickoff!
