On loan Sheffield United striker, Will Osula was handed his debut today by Derby County, 48 hours after completing his move to Pride Park on transfer deadline day.

The youngster, who has made five substitute appearances for the Blades last season joined the Rams on transfer deadline day on a season-long loan, though United have a recall option in January should his services at Bramall Lane be required.

The 19-year-old began the match on the substitutes bench in what would be a 3-2 defeat at home to Plymouth Argyle. The young Danish striker was introduced after 70 minutes, replacing James Collins.

Derby had stormed into a first-half two-goal lead through Collins and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing before Argyle pulled one back on 56 minutes through Morgan Whittaker before a brace from substitute Sam Cosgrove in 77 and 90 minutes sealed the victory for the visitors.

The Derby County squad had a former Blades flavour with goal scorer Nathaniel Mendez-Laing whilst Richard Stearman, Conor Hourihane, and Davis McGoldrick was also included in Liam Rosenior’s Rams. Meanwhile, former Blades defender, James Wilson, was an unused substitute for the Pilgrims.

The defeat saw the Rams slip to ninth in the table after seven League One matches played. They next travel to Morecambe next Saturday (10th September), where it is hoped that Osula will make his full debut.
