Plymouth Argyle will be looking for a cup upset this weekend when they make the long journey back to Yorkshire for the fourth round of the FA Cup to face Premier League Sheffield United.

Whilst Sheffield United have enjoyed the luxury of joining the FA Cup trail in the third round, opposition Plymouth Argyle has had to battle their FA Cup journey from the first round. They overcame Charlton Athletic by a single goal at The Valley in round one. Luke Jephcott’s goal on the hour mark proved to settle the result in this match.

The second round saw Argyle beat Lincoln City 2-0 at Home Park. Jephcott again was on target for the Pilgrims whilst Benjamin Reeves netted the Green Army’s second goal. An away trip to Championship Huddersfield Town would prove to be a hard task but Ryan Lowe’s side came out with flying colours, twice coming from behind to eventually win 3-2 at the John Smiths’ Stadium. The Terriers had taken a fourth-minute lead through defender Romoney Crichlow-Noble but Argyle responded on 24 minutes through Ryan Hardie. Eight minutes later the hosts restored their lead through Aaron Rowe, and Panutche Camara levelled just before the break. In the second half, Joseph Edwards scored on 71 minutes to seal the victory for the Pilgrims. Should Argyle advance against the Blades in this cup-tie then they will face the winners from the tie involving Millwall and Bristol City.

In League One the Pilgrims currently sit 11th in the league table having played 23 games. They have just forged a fine run of one defeat in the last six league games which had ended a run of six league games in defeat. Last weekend they drew 1-1 at home to Crewe Alexandra and in midweek, on Tuesday were 2-1 victor at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland in what proved to be their first away league win of the season.

Plymouth boss Lowe, who as a player applied his trade at Wednesday and Bury, usually plays a 3-5-2 formation They give a start to new striker Niall Ennis, who joined the club in a permanent deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday. He played fifteen minutes in the victory in the North East but may make his starting debut at Bramall Lane this weekend.
