Sheffield United were heavily linked with Peterborough United attacker Marcus Maddison over the summer, and it was said that manager Chris Wilder had been a long-term admirer of the 25-year-old winger and had considered a bid on a few occasions.

With the January transfer window nearing, the rumour mill is slowly greasing its cogs and we are again being loosely linked with the player. He’s made 21 appearances across all competitions for the Posh so far this season, returning two goals, but he is in good form at the moment as the last seven matches have seen both goals, plus seven assists.

It’s no surprise to see him feature again for us, especially as we are flying high in the second tier table and are sat in third place, and plenty hope we kick on and strengthen sensible in January to aid our promotion hopes to the Premier League.

With the story slowly gaining traction once more, Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony (often lively on social media these days) responded to a fan asking the question.

If we do have an interest in him, I’m not sure MacAnthony’s response would stop us really?
