Sheffield United winger Ryan Flynn is hoping to be in contention for a place in the squad when Danny Wilson’s men travel to Everton on Wednesday.

Flynn, a former Liverpool youngster has been out of action since the season opener, and is hoping to play a part against his former Merseyside rivals.

“I’d love to be back in the squad for the trip to Everton and I’m sure that a few of my friends from when I was at Liverpool will come over to watch it, but I’m just looking forward to getting back onto the pitch to be honest.”

Flynn missed one trip to the Wirral when he sat out Saturday’s encounter at Tranmere, but he believes it’s important not to rush back too soon.

‘I wasn’t available for Saturday (Tranmere) because it was a little too soon for me, but I’m back in training now and building up my match sharpness so that I can be available some time this week.

It’s never a good time to get injured, but it isn’t ideal to pick one up on your debut.

There’s a long season ahead of us though and it is important not to rush things and cause a prolonged spell on the sidelines.
