He’s good, but not quite what Sheffield United should be looking for right now.

That was the view that a Dutch football journalist has given when it comes to the discussion of the Blades signing goalkeeper Marco Bizot following the recent news that we were one of the clubs interested in buying him.

The 29-year-old Dutchman was in impressive form this past season, keeping just as many clean sheets as he conceded goals, helping his side to second place in the league table and reaching the knockout stages of the Europa League.

How much will Sheffield United spend this summer in total?

Speaking exclusively to Vital Blades, James Rowe gave a brief insight into what the perception is of the stopper in the Netherlands (which is very high indeed apparently), and he looks to be a solid performer. However, Rowe doesn’t think that Chris Wilder’s men should be pursuing the matter any further:

“I can tell you that he is a very highly rated goalkeeper who was key to AZ Alkmaar’s success last season. He has also been on fringes of Dutch national squad at in recent selections particularly the Nations League for example. I personally think Sheffield United should go back in with another bid for Ramsdale. Surely Henderson should have a second season on loan at Bramall Lane? I think considering age 29 AZ would accept between € 8- 10 mil”

I think a lot of this will come down to price. There’s no denying that based off last season at least, Bizot and the Blades would be a good match; a goalkeeper that doesn’t concede a lot, and a team with the fourth-best defensive record in the division.

However, with €20m minimum being the supposed cost of bringing in someone like Uğurcan Cakir, £15m the minimum for Aaron Ramsdale, and £100k per week reportedly needed to bring Dean Henderson back, if Sheffield United want a permanent keeper it may come down to a case of who they think is the best pound-for-pound when it comes to the financial side of it.

What about you? Do you think that the Blades should make a move for Bizot?
