As the transfer window draws closer, football clubs up and down the county are searching for last minute deals to take them to the end of the season.

The 24-year-old left footed midfielder joined from Huddersfield Town last summer for an undisclosed fee but is now deemed surplus to requirements at the City Ground despite making 13 Premier League appearances (and scoring once), and could leave the Reds on loan, with the expectation of signing Jonjo Shelvey from Newcastle United.

However, it has been reported that Forest would be looking for a £10million to sign O’Brien as they look to recoup the money they spent on him last summer, with West Bromwich Albion thought to be interested.

Is this transfer likely to happen?

Highly unlikely. On 20th January, Sheffield United was hit with a transfer embargo and are unable to sign new players until it is lifted, and with the January transfer window set to close tomorrow on 31st at 23:00 PM, unless the ban is lifted and United can make quickfire deals then O’Brien won’t be moving to Bramall Lane.
