Mark Duffy has this evening become the latest Sheffield United player to extend his contract at Bramall Lane.

The 32 year old experienced playmaker has put pen to paper on fresh terms that see him contracted to the club until the summer of 2020 and he was a key part of our promotion from League One last season as he made 44 appearances across all competitions.

So far this campaign he has 25 games under his belt.

Speaking to the Official Site as the announcement was made, manager Chris Wilder said of the extension.

‘Mark’s always stated that he sees his future here and I’m delighted that a coveted player wants to extend his stay. He adds to our options at the top of the pitch and has done fantastically well this season, having Mark in the building strengthens us and this rewards him for a really good first part of the season at Championship level.’

Duffy of course follows in the footsteps of John Fleck, David Brooks, Jack O’Connell and Leon Clarke in signing new deals since August and prior to that we tied up the futures of Billy Sharp, Chris Basham, Kieron Freeman and Paul Coutts.
