In a recent poll on Vital Sheff Utd, the fans voted for the central midfield position to be bolstered, with a whopping 57%, and it appears that Coventry City’s Michael Doyle could be set to fill that void.

Doyle, who is currently the longest serving player at the Ricoh Arena after signing in 2003 has featured heavily this season under Aidy Boothroyd but could be set to rejoin former boss Micky Adams.

Adams has already suggested that experience would be brought in on a permanent deal this week (hopefully), and Doyle could be the man in question.

The 29 year old who has a solitary cap for Ireland took time to salute the visiting fans when he was substituted yesterday, and boss Boothroyd will not stand in his way.

“If there is something in it then we`ll have to discuss it.

“I`ve got a lot of time for Michael, who has been terrific for us, but I`ve got Aron Gunnarsson, Lee Carsley and Sammy Clingan and young players like Conor Thomas coming through.
