Some more information has surfaced regarding Sheffield United’s potential new owner, after an earlier report from The Times stated that the potential new owner is African.

We now know that the person/s in question are not Egyptian, thus ruling out the Mansour family.

The Times suggest that United’s potential new owner is Nigerian billionaire Dozy Mmobousi, and the report claims that the takeover is in the final stages of being completed. There is a suggestion that the takeover could be completed in as little as two or three weeks.

Mmobousi is a technology entrepreneur and an advocate for technology advancement. He is the Founder/CEO of two prominent US corporations: Tingo Inc, Africa’s leading Agri-Fintech company and Tingo International Holdings Inc. His companies have an estimated net worth of $7Bn.

The Times newspaper says that the deal is said to be worth £90M to take over Sheffield United Football Club. Prince Abdullah’s football group, United World, is not a part of the deal and it is unknown as to what will happen with Sheffield United’s affiliation with the United World group once the takeover is complete.

EFL regulators are currently doing due diligence tests on Dozy Mmobousi, the reported potential new owner of the Blades, and if he passes the EFL’s fit and proper checks then he will be able to complete the purchase of Sheffield United Football Club.
