Sheffield United firmly rejected several bids on deadline day for Sander Berge and Iliman Ndiaye, but the club did see an outgoing last night from the development team.

Highly-rated central defender Nickseon Gomis has signed on loan for fellow United World side Beerschot, in Belgium. It is said that the Belgian side have an option to buy the 20-year-old Frenchman when his loan deal expires in the summer.

Having watched a lot of our development team over the last couple of seasons, I would describe Gomis as a powerful left-footed centre back who loves to stride forward with the ball, often attempting line-splitting passes or carrying the ball past the opposition. For a powerful looking defender, he is surprisingly fleet-footed.

Another French defender from the development team, Jean Belehouan, was reportedly training with United World owned French side Châteauroux. He was believed to have impressed their coaching staff, and it looked as though the 22-year-old was heading there on loan, but nothing has been announced as of yet.

Belehouan unfortunately picked up a bad injury last season and has returned to action this season. Belehouan is an interesting type of defender. He can play as a wide centre-back in a back three, and he can also play as a left-back/left-wingback. His athleticism and versatility are his best attributes.

Belehouan was recently on a short-term loan at Boston United.
