Defender set to leave the Lane?

Our friends at Vital Hull are reporting that the Blades are discussing a possible move to the KC Stadium for central defender Leigh Bromby. You can read the full article on the Vital Hull site. It appears a figure in the region of £300,000 is being discussed although the Tigers are unwilling to pay this amount. Personally I think that it is on the low side if anything but we know what the Blades are like when it comes to negotiating outgoing transfers.

Bromby’s departure would leave us horribly short in central defence with only Matt Kilgallon, an out of sorts Chris Lucketti and the injured (and possibly Bolton bound) Chris Morgan at the club.

If Robson’s willingness to allow Bromby to leave means we’ve agreed a deal with Aston Villa for Gary Cahill then great. If it means that Robson is once again going to leave us short by selling players without replacing them then he is taking a huge gamble.

It had been rumoured that Sheffield Wednesday wanted to take both Bromby and Alan Quinn on loan but were unable to pay half their wages. Could Bromby’s wage demands prove another stumbling block in any move away from the Lane?
