In a busy summer of transfer incomings and outgoings, Sheffield United’s latest piece of business has been shrewd as Academy starlet, Miguel Frecklington, has signed for SkyBet League Two outfit, Swindon Town, on a seasons-long loan deal.

The centre-half has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Blades since joining the S2 club from non-league side Mangotsfield United in December 2021. Since then, he has enjoyed loan spells at Wealdstone in 2022, and last season at nearby Chesterfield – where he helped the Spirites in winning the National League in their long-awaited return to the Football League.

Having completed the move to the County Ground, Town’s Head of Football, Jamie Russell commented on the 20-year-old; We are really pleased to have Miguel with us at Swindon as we believe he is an exciting defensive prospect, which we are looking forward to working with this season.

It’s hoped that the defender will gain much experience in first-team football at a higher professional level and, perhaps, one day may become a regular player in red and white stripes.
