Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Chris Burke saw his Sheffield United trial end without a deal. Reece Brown, who couldn’t face Coventry last week, will find out his fate after the QPR Development League match.

24-year-old Brown was someone Chris Wilder wanted to see in a ‘game situation’ before a final decision on the former Bury and Barnsley defender is made.

Brown has impressed Wilder who told the Sheffield Star a decision should be made by the end of the week.

‘Reece missed out because he wasn`t well last time but he will play for under-23`s down there. Chris is a really good professional but we won`t be moving that forward as I said last week. We`ll keep looking and maybe get another few in. Reece has impressed us all since coming in and we`ll make a decision possibly at the end of the week.’

Whatever happens with Brown he and Burke aren’t going to be the last looked at by the United boss.

It was confirmed by Wilder he’s planning to look at further free agents in a trialists capacity but is wary of too many and it becoming like ‘Piccadilly Circus’ and disrupting the dynamics of the squad.

‘I don`t want it to be like Piccadilly Circus with players coming in all the time. I don`t want a free for all. I want to make sure numbers are tight but if they can improve the squad, if Reece does that, then they`ll come in. We want to create that tight-knit atmosphere and I think we`re getting there with that now.’
