Sheffield United could hand new Blades signing Ben Davies his debut after signing on loan from Liverpool two days ago. The Blades will face last season’s Premier League opposition, West Bromwich Albion, at the Hawthorns tonight (kick-off: 08:00 PM).
Sheffield United come into this fixture after claiming their first point of the new season after recording a 0-0 draw at Swansea City last Saturday. Their journey into the new season has been tough. They were forced to play only two friendly fixtures after a third, against Norwich City was cancelled due to the Canaries suffering a Covid case. The Blades also began the season with a difficult opening fixture at home to Birmingham City, which ended in a 0-1 defeat before disposing of Carlisle United by a single goal in the League Cup.
Blades boss Slavisa Jokanovic could give a debut to new signing Ben Davies (defender), who has joined on a season’s long loan from Liverpool. They may also have another name added to the squad in time to face West Brom tonight with the Blades looking to recruit midfielder Ronaldo Viera (formerly with Leeds United) on loan.

The Baggies appointed former Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael this summer, following their relegation from the Premier League and the exit of former boss Sam Allerdyce. They have made a fine start to the new campaign, having drawn 2-2 with AFC Bournemouth on the opening day of the season before claiming victory over Luton Town at the Hawthorns last Saturday. The Baggies had comfortably guided themselves into a 3-0 lead via a Kai Naismith own goal, as well as strikes from Callum Robinson and Karlan Grant but two goals in the final 20 minutes gave the Hatters a lifeline. The hosts won 3-2, but it was a close call.
New signing Adam Reach could make his debut against United tonight. The midfielder was signed on a free transfer from our local rivals Sheffield Wednesday, for whom he played over 200 times for the S6 club. They will, however, be without Taylor Gardner-Hickman, who is absent with a knee injury and isn’t expected to be made available until mid-September.
The Baggies may also call upon trio; Matt Phillips, Kayle Bartley, and Callum Robinson to face their former club.
