Sheffield United are rumoured to be lining up a bid for Plymouth Argyle striker Jamie Mackie.

Mackie, 25, has hit 8 goals for relegated Argyle this season, but has grabbed the interest of a number of clubs including Gordon Strachan’s Middlesborough.

The former Exeter City striker has previously had a spell with MK Dons, but it’s his time at Argyle which has supposedly led to him catching the eye of Kevin Blackwell.

With Billy Sharp returning to Bramall lane next season, alongside Ched Evans, Darius Henderson and Richard Cresswell, it’s unknown how significant the capture of another striker will be.

However, Henri Camara’s current deal expires in the Summer, and Sharp himself could be subject of great interest around the Championshio following his goal scoring exploits this year, which would open the door to potential arrivals.

Liverpool academy graduate James Ellison has featured up front for the reserves in recent weeks, but it’s doubtful the Blades will pursue an interest.
