Manager Nigel Clough has said it’s imperative in his mind that we take maximum points from the next two games this week and that means starting with a victory tonight over Peterborough United.

The game, as per the agreement between the two clubs, kicks off at the earlier time of 7.30pm as per usual, and the gaffer has told the Official Site that if we want to battle for a top two finish this season, we simply have to get six points this week.

‘Our aim is to take it right down to the wire. To try and make sure everything is still up for grabs on the final day. Every year someone comes racing through. Look at Norwich in the Championship who only a few weeks ago were being written off but now are on the cusp of the top two. Six points from the next six. That’s what we are going to try and do or keep the unbeaten run going at the very least.’

What that means for Peterborough specifically is that we have to perform and be far more clinical than we were at the weekend in the late draw with Crawley Town.

‘Peterborough are a good club, that are normally there or thereabouts in this division, but for whatever reason it hasn’t quite happened for them this season, losing Britt Assombalonga was always going to be a blow to their chances.’

Peterborough have also changed manager and Darren Ferguson is now long in the hotseat and Clough was quick to credit his achievements and London Road over the previous years.

‘It won’t be an easy game, they had a good result at the weekend against Bradford and that emphasises that on their day Peterborough remain a dangerous side to face.’
