Pre-season can be a strange time and you can’t judge too much from it but it is always nice to have a ‘glamour tie’ or two and Nigel Clough feels that Sheffield United have these.

Clough feels that the opposition selected for the pre-season games, and where they are played, will serve the Blades well and allow us to go into the season having faced some ‘varied opposition’ that will stand us in good stead for the challenges ahead in league 1 this season.

He told the official website: ‘Our pre-season schedule is well balanced, we have some varied opposition, which will present us with some different challenges and that can only be of benefit to our preparations for the opener against Bristol City.’

Both Fenerbahce and Huddersfield Town come to Bramall Lane for pre-season, which give us ‘something to look forward too’ with the game against the Turkish outfit of particular interest to him.

Clough added: ‘We have two very attractive home friendlies to look forward too, but the Fenerbahce one on the Thursday is something to look forward to.

‘Fenerbahce are a giant in Turkey, league champions, with experience of the Champions League, so that game in particular will be a fantastic occasion for the supporters.’

Sheffield United have selected a good blend, and range, of fixtures both home and away that’d for certain.
