Manager Nigel Clough has said he was delighted to see Sheffield United book their place in the second round of the Capital One Cup this season following our victory over Mansfield Town.

It was a hard fought win at Bramall Lane with Andy Butler opening the scoring for us, before they got back on level terms. Marc McNulty scored his first goal of the season to give us the winner though, and United now know we face West Ham in the next round.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer said.

‘We are through to the next round, that’s the main thing in a cup tie. There were pleasing aspects in the performance again and we created enough chances to score more than two goals.’

The gaffer goes on to say he feels we probably would’ve been good value for a three or four goal haul on the evening and he’s felt that about both games we have played so far this season, so he believes the signs are good.

‘We got a game into the legs of those that needed one and we didn’t take any risks with those carrying slight knocks.’
