Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough is keen to bring Leeds United defender Aidan White back to Bramall Lane.

The defender looks set to return to Leeds, bringing his loan spell to a premature end, after he suffered an ankle injury early in the draw with Oldham Athletic on Thursday.

Clough has been impressed with White since his arrival and he admitted when asked that he would be interested in bringing him back to Bramall Lane.

“Yes, that`s something we`d probably look at doing,” Clough told the Sheffield Star.

“Aidy will almost certainly go back to Elland Road for treatment now. Leeds are his parent club and so, quite rightly, they are likely to want to oversee and take care of that.

“What happens after that is, of course, up to them but if there`s a possibility of doing something again then we`d think very seriously about it because he`s done well for us.”

White has made eight appearances since joining Sheffield United at the beginning of November.

The 22-year-old has shown his versatility, playing on both the wing and defence since his arrival. He has been struggling with a hamstring injury in recent weeks but an ankle injury in the first five minutes of the draw with Oldham t forced him off.

White was to return to Leeds after the game on New Year`s Day but he will now be returning early to assess the injury he suffered.
