Manager Nigel Clough has said he’s expecting a tough encounter when we host Scunthorpe for the second time this month.

Having drawn the first encounter at Glanford Park, we host them at Bramall Lane later this evening, and the gaffer told the Official Site that he expected it to be another tough battle as we search for another three points from our game in hand.

‘We need another good start, at Glanford Park we felt we dominated much of the first-half, but conceded a poor goal from a set-piece and at the interval it was 1-1, when really we should have been winning comfortably. But in the second period, Scunthorpe came into the game, put us on the back foot, had a goal disallowed and could have won the game, although we did have chances of our own to snatch all three points.’

Clough goes on to say that being on home soil should give us a further advantage with the crowd behind the lads, and of course following the Port Vale victory we are good confidence again and he’s hoping that shows.

‘Now we are back at Bramall Lane and on the back of Saturday it is again crucial we get on the front foot and look to score early to settle everyone down. It showed against Port Vale that when we do get an early goal, we tend to relax a bit, the fans do too and we produce a better performance. Scunthorpe will be resolute though, they need points to move away from the bottom four and Mark Robins will have them well organised and ready to battle it out.’
