It was reported many times that Belgian giants, Club Brugge had made an offer for Sander Berge. The story went right down to the wire on deadline day, on Thursday night, but no club was able to meet the asking price for the Norwegian international.

It was revealed by Paul Heckingbottom, in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, that there were some big Premier League clubs in conversation with United over Sander Berge.

The Star revealed that Thomas Tuchel was keen on acquiring the Norwegian midfielder’s talent. Chelsea were one of several Premier League clubs that proposed a loan offer to Sheffield United for Sander Berge on Thursday’s deadline day.

Sander Berge has 2 years remaining on his current contract, it is unknown if the Norwegian international would be willing to discuss extending his contract if the Blades were to get promoted this season to the Premier League.

After remaining in South Yorkshire, Berge is now expected to start tomorrow’s Championship clash against Hull City. The 24-year-old has made 4 goal contributions across the first 7 Championship games for the Blades, scoring twice and setting up two of his teammates.

Berge still has a release clause in his contract of £35M, though if United are to get back to the Premier League it would increase back to £45M.
