Roy Carroll will not be joining the Blades following a disastrous trial at the club. Carroll arrived at Oakwell prior to the Blades reserve game on the academy pitch shortly before kick-off and lined up between the sticks as he looked to impress the Blades contingent.

However, the former Manchester United goalkeeper, who has spent the past two years playing for OB in Denmark conceded two goals within ten minutes and was sent off shortly after, conceding a penalty in the process.

Now Carroll, 33, who is most famous for his blunder which should have cost Manchester United a goal against Tottenham Hotspur will continue to look for a club.

Boss Micky Adams continues to look for competition in the side, as Steve Simonsen continues to receive criticism from many sections of the crowd, and backup Richard Wright has been struggling with injury.
