Australian International David Carney has told a the website SBS in his home country about his life at Bramall Lane and how he is not enjoying working under Kevin Blackwell.

Carney was signed last Summer by Bryan Robson for 50k from Sydney FC and arrived with a lot of promise. At times Carney has showed this potential, but has too often looked like a showman, which is not going to get him very far in the Championship, and he has found himself out in the cold under Blackwell who has opted instead for Stephen Quinn on the left flank.

He’s a horrible man to play for, tactically he’s terrible – it’s just all about the long ball. I’ll have a talk with him this weekend and hopefully get out on loan to a club that suits my style better. If I changed my style to suit him then I probably wouldn’t get picked for the Socceroos anymore.

‘He came and saw me play for the Socceroos and told me he didn’t like the way I played for them, so what can you do? It’s not a good situation. I wanted to leave at the end of last season and told him so.

‘And going to the Olympics probably didn’t help my cause with the boss. He belongs in the lower leagues – but I don’t belong there with him.

‘I’d like to stay in England, but I will have to go somewhere that suits the way I play. I think there will be a few changes for me in the next few months – hopefully anyway.’
