Sheffield United will be looking to earn their first competitive victory at the New York Stadium when they make the ten-mile trip across South Yorkshire to face local rivals Rotherham United in the 12:30 PM kick-off tomorrow.

The two sides first met at the New York Stadium in a League One clash in September 2013, which saw the Millers come back from Jose Baxter’s opener to win 3-1. It wasn’t until November 2018, in the Championship, that the two sides met again competitively. A win looked on the cards following Chris Basham’s goal on 85 minutes, but the hosts netted in stoppage-time to record a 2-2 draw.

However, the Blades have won twice at the New York Stadium in friendly matches. John Cofie netted the game’s only goal in July 2012 as the Blades won 1-0 and, in July 2017, which ended in a 2-1 victory. The last time that United won on Rotherham soil (so to speak), was in October 2011 at their temporary Don Valley Stadium home in the Football League Trophy. Danny Wilson’s side won 2-1 with goals from Chris Porter and a last-minute winner from Ched Evans.

Sheffield United will be looking to overturn a 1-0 loss they sustained to the Millers in early November.

Heckingbottom will be without striker Daniel Jebbison following his dismissal, unless this is rescinded by the authorities should United pursue and are successful in an appeal. They will also be without young Danish striker Will Osulu, who will serve the last of a three-match suspension, having sustained a red card whilst on-loan at Derby County. He will also be absent from the Wrexham replay due to being cup-tied but will be available for selection against Swansea next weekend.
