Earlier this week the future of another of the promising youngsters that Sheff Utd have, with a long-term deal agreed, was secured when Dominic Calvert-Lewin signed a new deal.

The Official Website confirmed that the 18-year-old has agreed a contact to keep him at Bramall Lane until the summer of 2018 at least.

Having enjoyed a taster of first-team football, been named on the bench last season against Aston Villa in the FA Cup and on occasions in League 1 this time round, he’s now targeting further improvement after a decade with the club already and is looking to ‘push on’ with this contract incentive to do so.

‘I am delighted that the contract is sorted and I’m really looking forward to continuing my football development. I’ve loved the ten years I’ve had with United so far and hopefully there is plenty more to come.

‘It has been great to progress through the Academy to the U21s and being with the first team on a number of occasions has given me an incentive to push on further.’

Nigel Clough went onto credit the continued work being shown by our Academy, with praise rightly offered to the staff, and feels that this commitment to him is a sign of how highly we rate him and his commitment to us is something he’s obviously happy with.

It was also suggested that he could have a part to play before the season is out….

Another deal agreed this week was a new shirt sponsorship agreement with John Holland, who have agreed a year extension to act as our sponsors next season.
