Andy Butler has said that he’s not overly surprised to see Sheffield United installed as favourites for the League One title next season, but he knows we’ve got the characters within the squad to deal wit that pressure and cope.

Speaking to the Official Site the 30 year old said that the league this season was going to be fiercely competitive, but he had no concerns about the mental strength of the playing squad.

‘We’ve got the characters to cope with that, without a shadow of a doubt. People like Michael Doyle and Neil Collins are streetwise, Chris Porter comes into that bracket too. I know because I’ve played against them enough times in the past and I’m just glad they’re on my side now.’

Butler goes on to say that you definitely need that experienced ‘edge’ to go along with youthful endeavour, and it’s the mix that counts because the experienced players can bring that ‘nasty streak’ which doesn’t mean moving people down for the hell of it, but they know how to break up games, disrupt a changing momentum and do the ugly stuff that sees out points.

‘I can’t wait to be a part of that and hopefully help bring even more experience and knowledge to the table.’
