Burnley v Blades: Preview

Is the season over for the Blades? Blackwell doesn’t think so although I’m not sure how many Blades would agree with him. The fact that both fans and players may have one eye on their summer holidays means that this will be an excellent test of Blackwell’s motivational skills.

Is it time to start experimenting with one eye on next season? I’d say that whilst the play-offs are still a mathematical possibility we should play our strongest possible side. Should we not win at Burnley however I like to see a few players given a chance to impress in the last 3 games.

That said, as David Cotterill has told the BBC that he sees his future with Wigan Athletic he would drop out for the run-in if the decision was mine.

Vital Quotes:

Kevin Blackwell told the official site that he sees this as a difficult game ‘It is a tough place to go, they have a excellent home record and you know what you are going to get. They have David, Jon and Ade there, a couple of lads with an affinity for the club who, will no doubt be trying to put one over us come Saturday.’

Burnley Team News:

One time Blades target Clarke Carlisle is suspended so hero/villain David Unsworth will continue in defence.

Player to watch: David Unsworth

Responsible for the best and worst moment of my life. Makes it difficult to know what to make of him really!

Sheffield United Team News:

Kevin Blackwell is unlikely to make many changes from the team which denied Wednesday in the week.

Player to watch: James Beattie

Stated how happy he is at the Lane this week, hopefully that means he’ll be here to lead our 2008/09 promotion push.

Match Facts & Stats

The Blades have lost only once on their last 4 visits to Turf Moor.

Match Prediction:

How motivated our players will hold the key to this one. I’m going for a 1-1 draw with Beattie scoring again.
