Sheffield United have rejected an offer of £17.9M for Sander Berge from Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, according to Sky Sports.

It is thought that United will only entertain offers of around £22M, which is what they paid for the Norwegian back in January of 2020.

Berge, 24, has had a difficult first couple of years in England but to no fault of his own. Unfortunately his early days at United were limited due to suffering an injury which required surgery in the 20/21 season. Subsequently the midfielder missed 20 games during United’s relegation campaign.

At the start of last season Berge suffered a hamstring tear in September, as a result he missed 12 games last season. But in the second half of last season Sander Berge found his feet and the majority of the time he dazzled the opposition  with his dribbling ability, and his insane agility for a man of his size.

Berge went on to score five goals from 22 starts in the 21/22 season, and that was with limitations throughout the campaign.

If the midfielder stays at Bramall Lane for this coming season then he could break into double digits for goals. He is without a doubt one of the best players in the Championship, and arguably United’s best player.
