Anel Ahmedhodzic signed for Sheffield United for an upfront fee of £3.5M. He came from Swedish club Malmo where he previously demonstrated that he can play in the Champions League.

The Bosnian international made 5 starts for Malmo in last season’s Champions League competition, he proved he can mix it with the best against the likes of Chelsea and Italian giants Juventus.

There was lots of talk about Anel Ahmedhodzic before a ball was kicked this season. Football people in Europe couldn’t believe United were signing the 23-year-old as they saw him as a Premier League player. Some United fans were sceptical about those claims and asked “if he is so good, then why is he signing for the Blades?”

I think it’s safe to say, nobody has doubts about those claims now. The marauding defender has started 6 games, making 4 goal contributions and collecting 4 clean sheets.

In an interview with the Sportsman, Anel Ahmedhodzic spoke with great confidence:

“I think I can go all the way. Of course, my goal is to play in the Premier League next year with Sheffield United. That’s my main focus right now but there is no limit to how good I can be and I want to play in the Champions League week in week out.”

“If I don’t believe in myself, then who will? I just want to improve every game and make sure that everyone in the team performs, not just me. The main thing is the team and if I can help my teammates get better, maybe by making a run to create space for them, then I will do it. Like I say, there is no limit to how good I can become.”
