Sheffield United have progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup following a 3-1 victory over Blackpool at Bramall Lane.

United needed Extra-time to get the job done, but went through thanks to Jordan Slew’s double strike, in front of over 800 people.

Slew sealed the game in the 108th minute, when he met substitute Connor Martin’s cross from the right and firing past Kettings in the Blackpool goal.

It was merely the cherry on the icing on a rather satisfying cake for John Pemberton’s men who have now added the Premier League side to their previous scalps of Millwall and Cheltenham Town.

Slew had put the Blades in front in overtime when he managed a real poachers effort, reacting quickest when Harry Maguire had seen his header saved. United wouldn’t have made it into the extra period however, was it not for the impressive finish from substitute Martin, who managed to race clear of the ‘Pools defence and sliding the ball past the ‘keeper.

The first half had ended goalless with United 16 year-old defender Terry Kennedy being the standout performer at the heart of the defence. All in all a successful evening for United blemished only by a cheap goal given away early in the second period when Tomsett made the most of Joe Ironside’s sloppy play.

United: Long, Montgomery, Anderson, Harriott, Maguire, Kennedy, Gregory (Wilkinson 65), Whitehouse (Hinchliffe 103), Ironside (Martin 69), Slew, McFadzean.

nused: Barry, Willis.

The side features George Long, Matty Harriott and Jordan Slew who have all been seen around the first-team this season, with Harriott and Slew appearing from the bench.

lsewhere, Callum McFadzean has previously represented England at youth level before being tied to a long term contract at Bramall Lane/
