Sheffield United winger Mark Yeates has caught the eye of his manager after just a handful of games since arriving from Middlesborough.

Yeates, who had a hand in Henri Camara’s opener at the weekend has given the Blades a edge since his inclusion in the side, but Blackwell believes there’s more to come when he adapts to the side.

‘Now he has to work harder on other aspects of the game and on Saturday when I asked him for that at the interval he produced it.

‘He is the sort who makes others want to play and we need somebody to introduce that bit of variety because on the first-half performance on Saturday we could beat any body in this division.

What the Blades first-half performance provided at the weekend was variety compared to many other performances this season, and Blackwell believes this ability to ‘mix things up’ could be key to the Blades’ promotion chase.

‘It is important to get a happy medium into our play, as well as consistency in selection and I think that if Saturday’s team play another 10-15 games together we will see a more cohesive product.’
