There are two stories of note for Sheffield United fans when it comes to the January transfer rumour mill today. The first is a claim that we are now on the verge of securing Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan on a loan deal for the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign, and the second is Leon Clarke’s departure to Wigan Athletic on his own loan deal.
Sky Sports are carrying both stories and they believe that the long chase for Hogan is now effectively a done deal and will be ready to be confirmed either later this evening or early Thursday morning.
With Hogan effectively done, that has paved the way for 33-year-old Clarke to move on for the remainder of the campaign as well.
Sky claim that Clarke is already undergoing a medical at Wigan ahead of the move and his return to a former loan club will be confirmed, once we confirm Hogan as incoming.
It could be a busy night.
