Deja Vu struck for Sheffield United as a first round elimination to lower league opponents struck for the second successive season.

The Blades, who had a strong team out for the game, went behind in the sixth minute, and never looked like coming back into it.

Despite giving a first start to Kingsley James and Jordan Chappell, the Blades did field a strong side, with nine of the starters having featured on Sunday.

The opposition, managed by former Wednesday boss Chris Turner, featured a number of players familiar with the South Yorkshire football fan, and it was ex Millers winger Andy Monkhouse who had a big hand in the goal. His good work on the right set up Joe Gamble, whose shot was parried to James Brown to poke home, and immediately put the Blades on the back foot.

A sluggish United went close through Yeates and Cresswell in the first half, but failed to cause the League 2 side any real problems.

Brow went close to doubling the lead before being withdrawn, and former Blade Evan Horwood tested the goalkeeper, with only Yeates showing any kind of intent for the visitors.

The game was put beyond doubt on the hour. Kozluk bringing down Anthony Sweeny as he was about to pounce in the area, allowing Adam Boyd to double the lead from the penalty spot.

Ward, Quinn and Bartley were all thrown on as the game began to get out of United’s reach, and Bartley, playing as a centre-forward on his second debut, saw a late attempt cleared off the line.
