League One Sheffield United caused Premier League side Hull City a huge fright before going down 5-3 in an enthralling FA Cup Semi-Final at Wembley.

United went in at the break 2-1 ahead thanks to goals from Jose Baxter and Stefan Scougall.

Baxter put United ahead on 19 minutes when his deflected shot left the Hull goalkeeper stranded.

Hull looked to be going in level at the break when Yannick Sagbo slid in at the far post after a precise cross but United were not to be denied an half time lead their efforts thoroughly deserved when Scougall fired home after superb work from Jamie Murphy.

Tigers boss Steve Bruce had seen enough and he made two inspired changes at the start of the second half. Matt Fryatt came on and within four minutes of the restart, he poked home after United failed to clear their area.

Five minutes later the Premier League side were ahead when Tom Huddlestone made no mistake.

Former blades player Stephen Quinn came off the bench for Hull and within minutes, it proved to be another inspired change when he headed home from close range.

United were given renewed hope in the final minute when Murphy fired home but with the blades committing men forward in injury time, Hull broke and David Meyler fired home a fifth that was harsh on the blades who had given their all in a tremendous cup tie.

Whilst United will be hugely disappointed to go so close in the FA Cup this season it has been a tremendous adventure that started at Colchester United in November and as seen them win at Cambridge United, Aston Villa and Fulham as well as beating Nottingham Forest and Charlton Athletic at home.
