After returning to fitness in pre-season, where he looked sharp in front of goal, Rhian Brewster is yet to score a goal in competitive action this season.

Although the striker hasn’t scored a goal in his 11 appearances in all competitions this season, Brewster is still having an impact on games.

The 22-year-old has been working hard during his performances, being a nuisance for the opposition defence with his constant movement.

Despite not scoring his diving header chance against Swansea City, he managed to pop up in the dying seconds of the game and lay the ball on a plate for Reda Khadra, who won the Blades all 3pts.

That contribution led to Paul Heckingbottom granting him a start last Saturday in the  2-0 win over Preston North End.

Heckingbottom’s number two, Stuart McCall, has recently praised Rhian Brewster’s work rate and ability:

“He’s got a really good attitude and work ethic and he’s a good finisher.

“As a coaching staff you can only ask for dedication and hard work and he’s giving that.

“He just needs a little run when he can get a goal. But I don’t think we should be getting onto him, because he’s playing his part in the team when he’s involved.” [The Star]

His teammate, Oli McBurnie, has recently just broken a long goal drought, and he is now enduring fine form in front of goal, scoring 4 goals in his last 5 games.

Like McBurnie, you would think that as soon as Brewster nets one, they’ll start to flood in. Especially considering United’s incredible creative ability in the team, chances won’t be that hard to come by.
