Sheffield United ended their losing run with a point, in a 1-1 draw with Crawley Town at Bramall Lane.

Marlon King earned the blades a point in the second half after they had gone behind early on to a Jamie Proctor goal.

Former blade Kyle McFadzean had the first chance of the game for the visitors but his shot was straight at George Long.

Ryan Hall had the first chance for United but his free kick was straight at Paul Jones in the Crawley goal.

The visitors did not have to wait long to open the scoring when Jamie Proctor scored after a well-worked corner.

Sadler went close to doubling the lead for the visitors when his shot went just wide.

Neil Collins had the blades next effort on goal but he headed wide from a corner.

Proctor had a chance to score his second of the evening just before half time but he fired wide after a quick break from Crawley.

Febian Brandy had the last chance of the half for United but his shot was easy for Jones and it was greeted with ironic cheers from the Bramall Lane crowd who moments later booed the players of the pitch at half time.

Tony McMahon hit the inside of the post as United searched for an early second half equaliser.

The blades were level just past the hour when Brandy found King who scored his first goal since signing for the club last month.

Collins had another header go wide of the target and Lyle Taylor also shot off target as blades searched for a second goal.

Brandy fired wide and then Conor Coady came closest to giving United the lead but his shot was well saved by Jones as they piled on the pressure in the final ten minutes.

Crawley sub Sergio Torres had a rare effort on target for the visitors in the final quarter of the game as it entered the final few minutes.

Blades sub Jamie Murphy almost won it in added time, his shot squirming under the body of Jones and out for a corner.

It proved to be the final chance as the blades moved off the bottom of League One and out of the relegation zone for at least 24-hours.
