Sheffield United slipped to the foot of the League One table with a 2-0 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The defeat was hard to take for Sheffield United who deserved something from the game.

The blades enjoyed the better of the first half with Florent Cuvelier and Febian Brandy both going close to giving them the lead only to be denied and Tony McMahon and Jose Baxter saw efforts go just wide.

Wolves hardly mustered a meaningful effort on goal in the first half, as you would have had to ask yourself who was the form team in the game.

Brandy went close again for the visitors early in the second half and they were made to pay for their misses when the home side went ahead rather fortuitously half way through the second half.

Leigh Griffiths saw his effort saved by George Long but he bundled it home at the second attempt.

Wolves thought they had doubled their lead when Shane Long headed home but his effort was ruled out for offside after Cuvelier had done well to block a goal bound shot from Griffiths.

Bakary Sako put the game beyond doubt as the game moved into stoppage time with an unstoppable shot from the edge of the area.

Despite the defeat, the performance was more encouraging from the blades. The big question is, will boss David Weir be given the time, as he must now be on borrowed time following a sixth straight defeat.
