Sheffield United’s unbeaten start to the season remains intact, Monday nights win against Portsmouth at Bramall Lane moved them joint top of the league one table.

Nick Blackman almost got The Blades off to a flyer, but his effort was blocked but it was Portsmouth’s Akos Buzsaky that came closest in the first half when his effort came back off the woodwork. The first half ending goalless in the end.

The visitors continued to press in the second half, with Sheffield United also having half chances but it was eventually a reckless challenge halfway through the second half that gifted the hosts a penalty.

Blackman (66) duly converted this spot kick, calmly slotting home and that was enough to give The Blades a 1-0 win and the three points to sit behind Tranmere on goal difference.
