Sheffield United’s most recent acquisition , Luke Freeman, signed for an undisclosed fee from Queens Park Rangers, has reportedly broken the clubs transfer record. New reports suggest that Chris Wilder is close to naming another new signing, and this new deal is set to smash the previous record.
United have been linked with 22-year-old French striker Neal Maupay from Brentford, who netted 28 goals last season, including one in the Blades 3-2 victory at Griffin Park last November.
Reports in the Sheffield Star suggest that Premiership rivals Aston Villa have lost interest, due to the asking price, but the Blades have not been put off by the excess of £15million being asked by the Bees.
However, the same report also points out that Sheffield United have shown a long interest in Swansea City striker Ollie McBurnie, who could be set for a Liberty Stadium exit to Bramall Lane.
It looks like the Villains are out of the running to land the Brentford goal-machine👀…https://t.co/xPR94f7RTU

It is unclear as to whom exactly is on the Blades radar but should the deal for Maupay prove fruitful, it will prove to supporters that United are keen on making a serious challenge to survive their first season back in the top flight.
Adding extra fuel into the transfer fire is a tweet from former Wimbledon, Aston Villa and Sheffield United defender Kevin Gage, who posted this tweet today –make of it what you like;
In fact, have Maupaytience. 😁👍 https://t.co/v7X4Xy3iiI
